Melasma

Melasma is a very common skin condition that causes dark, discolored patches or patterns on the face. It’s also known as chloasma or ‘Pregnancy Mask’. In women, it is triggered by hormonal changes which can be caused by oral birth control, hormonal IUDs and pregnancy and is exacerbated by sun exposure and heat. This condition most commonly affects women but also affects a small percentage of men. There is no cure for Melasma, however it can be managed and controlled.
