Pain Management

Neural Prolotherapy

What It Does

Neural prolotherapy does not target tendons, ligaments or joints, but instead treats nerves and muscles associated with areas of pain.  Other treatments such as PRP, acupuncture, trigger point injections, and biological and nutritional therapies are also used as required. Each patient is unique and the best treatment should be used at each stage of the healing process.

What to Expect

After Treatment

After seeing dramatic results many people wonder how after only a few treatments it can cause such a significant and often immediate decline in pain.

Prolotherapy

What It Does

At Quartz our Prolotherapy treatment protocols vary with each patient based on their individual needs, immune status and severity of injury. Prolotherapy is an alternative nonsurgical regenerative injection therapy that may help repair body tissues. The injection therapy is used to stimulate healing of injured tendons, ligaments and joints.

How It Works

Optimal nutrition, supplementation, stress management, adequate sleep, and physical health are all factors that influence healing. Our Naturopathic Doctor will help guide you through this process to optimise your response to prolotherapy. Your doctor may include testing methods to evaluate whether you are a good candidate for prolotherapy. You may be required to do a series of regenerative IV Drips to prepare for a successful treatment.

Therapeutic PRP

What It Does

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has been advocated for healing and regeneration.

How It Works

The increased levels of growth factors and proteins provided by the PRP may enhance the wound healing process. Therapeutically, in areas of tissue damage, such as strained ligamentous, tendinous tissue and cartilage, it can prove beneficial in enhancing the rate of healing.

  • Muscle tears
  • Post-surgery tissue healing and scar reduction
  • Tendon injuries (tendonitis, tendonosis, rupture)
  • Rectus abdominis tears – postpartum

What to Expect

During Treatment

Your blood will be drawn, then placed in a centrifuge which spins the blood very quickly to separate and then collect the Plasma. The Plasma is then injected into the area of concern.

After Treatment

Pain can worsen for up to 3 days post treatment.

PRP Basics

Platelet Rich Plasma, commonly known as PRP, is drawn from your own blood, placed in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the rest of the blood. It can be applied to the surface of the skin when combined with other cosmetic treatments like Skinpen Microneedling or injected in a therapeutic setting to assist in the healing process for potential injuries and muscle tears.

Platelet-Rich Plasma treatments offer a range of benefits. These include reducing inflammation, improving tissue healing, increasing collagen production, reducing hair loss, improving skin texture and tone, reducing joint pain and inflammation, improving joint mobility and function, reducing muscle pain and soreness, and improving athletic performance. These benefits make PRP treatments an attractive option for people seeking a non-invasive and natural way to enhance their physical health and appearance.

Cosmetic USES

PRP is a treatment that has various cosmetic and therapeutic uses. The cosmetic uses of Platelet Rich Plasma include reducing fine lines and wrinkles, tightening and toning skin, minimizing acne scars, reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation and dark circles, stimulating hair growth, and enhancing the results of facial rejuvenation procedures such as microneedling and laser treatments.

PRP treatments can stimulate hair growth when injected into the scalp.

Therapeutic uses

The therapeutic uses of PRP include treating osteoarthritis and other joint conditions, reducing pain and inflammation associated with tendonitis, bursitis, and other soft tissue injuries, accelerating healing after surgery, treating male and female sexual dysfunction, treating certain types of chronic pain, promoting bone healing after fractures, treating skin ulcers and other types of wounds, and reducing hair loss associated with androgenetic alopecia.

Our Naturopathic Physicians recommend Platelet Rich Plasma for a variety of uses and have really noticed an improvement in cellulite treatments to improve skin texture (in addition to EmsculptNEO and Forma Skin Tightening to transform your body.)
